  27. But you don`t get very much for $150...
  28. I would prefer a slower but GOOD drive. An other idea is to wait a few
  29. days or buy a good drive for $200.

  31. The only good (available) drives are NEC`s 5xx series...
  32. and maybe Plextor4x (not 6!).

  34. Additional I wouldn`t buy a CHEAP drive like Quantum-Maveric, Lightning
  35. or so...they`ve got less cache than 4 year old drives...and they are
  36. extremly SLOW :-((

  38. NEC4xi (501) and 511 are remanufactured since a few weeks now and they
  39. aren`t expensive this time, IMHO.
  40. problems: energie consumtion up to 20watts, CDDA-Sampling a little
  41.           complicated but very good in quality

  43. PS: I`m not working for NEC or so. I was looking for a good Reader
  44.     for a friend...and the only one remaining was NEC.
  45.     I liked Toshiba 3501B, too. But it`s sold off...
  46.     Anybody out there with Plextor4x?!
